Charlton Consulting Group has formed a strong partnership with Intelsat's HR team, working on a number of critical projects.
Pension Administration
Charlton has provided pension administration services to Intelsat since 1997. In 2000, Intelsat transitioned from an international consortium to a private corporation. As part of the transition, Intelsat asked Charlton to spearhead the complex process of modifying the original pension administration system.
Working closely with a team made up of Intelsat's benefits professionals and other outside consultants, we helped redesign Intelsat's pension plans to conform to the company's new status.
In 2001, based on the success of the previous year, Intelsat decided to outsource much of its pension administration work to Charlton Consulting Group.
Today, we provide a dedicated call center for employee questions, calculate and process payments for new retirees, and serve as the point of contact for employees and retirees for all pension-related issues.
Compensation Management
To help Intelsat's HR department and line managers more efficiently complete both the merit review and corporate bonus review processes, Charlton built a customized compensation management system.
The system is based on the company's hierarchy, allowing budgets and sub-budgets to be distributed appropriately throughout the organization, while still enabling top-level managers to maintain control of the process.
Educational Services
In the wake of privatization, many Intelsat employees—a large percentage of whom were not U.S. citizens—needed help in understanding their new benefits package. Charlton Consulting Group conducted both one-on-one and group informational sessions to help employees make informed decisions.
Employee Communications
For several years, Charlton Consulting Group provided Intelsat's employees with comprehensive printed total compensation statements. In 2005, Intelsat decided to move from paper to the Web and in May rolled out Total Compensation Online.™
